Many of you have worked with Jonathan and know him better as Redbeard. He has a jovial personality and we know you will enjoy working with him.
Beth is our office manager and book keeper. Any phone calls or messages are sent her way, since she is the center of our communications. She is hard working and very well organized, Beth is also very calm, and she helps keep all of us organized and calm under pressure.
Dennis is originally from Michigan. That does not mean he doesn’t know factories or fishing. Coming from the Great Lakes state and the birthplace of automobiles, Dennis worked for Ford for 34 years and has been a passionate fisherman since he was 5. Dennis is the laid-back and no-worries type, always willing to share a laugh or a fishing story about his many adventures on the water. His work ethic is twice as hard as his passion for fishing; however, he is usually one to help close down shop at the end of the day. He oversees most of the operations in the back, making sure that the blanks are properly baked for the morning and all our standards are kept in high quality.
Fin is one of the nuttiest employees at Blackfin Rods! He shows up everyday, and loves lunch hour. He is always ready to pick up any extra food that ends up on the floor. He keeps a close eye on the factory floor, and makes sure every rod we build is the highest quality. Fin was born in Stuart Florida, and is a local resident. Make sure to say hi to Fin if you stop by!
Larry is a person whose skills are highly valued, like the rest of the team, and why we say the rods are all handmade. Larry first splines the different rods and then goes about gluing on the rod seats and top guide to the different deep sea and inshore rods we have to offer. Staring out of large framed glasses, his attentive and dexterous work is constant; even when there are people coming in and out asking questions or searching for others. By the end of the day there is a line of semi-finished blanks ready for the next stage of their evolution due to Larry’s hard working and masterful hands.
Nerida is one of the most cheerful employees you will ever come across. Her talents lie in getting you to smile and her great attention to detail. She is the one who polishes and checks the rods, manufacturing them with a skillful and attentive eye. Nerida works in the room next to her mother. She is easy going and the first to smile, but that doesn’t mean she is not a hard worker. She is also one of the most reliable on the team. Nerida handles all of the ordering of guides and labels. She helps clean the rods and makes sure all of the labels are correct. On more than several occasions she completes her tasks on hand along with many others-like entertaining walk-ins with her fun loving attitude. On many days Nerida is the woman holding down the fort when things get a little hectic.
These ladies are artisans in their craft. Gloria, Romelia, Concepcion, and Maria have amassed a total of over 30 years of wrapping experience between them. They have a delicate and thorough touch when using the spinning machines to wrap the thread around the guides and give the rod its excellent detail. They chat amiably with each other throughout the day and exchange stories to pass the time. Often the room is filled with the sounds of running machines and friendly conversation. The ladies are patient and diligent in their craft. A skill that is congruent with producing a masterful wrap again and again.
