Captain Marvin Steiding is a Maryland native. He started Reel Candy Sportfishing Charters in the late 1990’s with his wife Candy in Nokomis, Florida. He has been a business owner, a career law enforcement officer and he also served on the Governor’s Commission for Public Safety.

Captain Marvin started fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and had his first boat in his twenties. During the short offshore season in Ocean City, Maryland, he often fished from the Angler Restaurant and Marina, where his passion grew for white and blue marlin, as well as tuna and sharks. Although most of his accomplishments in Maryland were for bluefish, striped bass, and shark tournaments, it wasn’t until his boat arrived in Jupiter, Florida in 1998, and he fished with Tom Henry, Barry Hitch, and some other Maryland acquaintances that sailfishing became a real challenge. He quickly learned all that he could about sailfishing and it was then that offshore fishing became his true passion.

Marvin and Candy, have been fortunate enough to fish with some of the great names in billfishing. Those include chasing sailfish, blue and black marlin in Costa Rica with Mike Canino and Walker Holcomb, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia with Peter Wright, Hayden Bell, Darrin Haydon, Bo Jennings and the sailfish rich waters off Guatemala, with Ron Hamlin, and Chris Sheeder.

In recent years Captain Marvin has been a tournament winner and placed in many tournaments for sailfish, blue marlin, and wahoo. Join Captain Marvin & Candy along with the Reel Candy fishing team for your next angling adventure.
