Captain TJ Ott is fishing boat captain and a TV star of national Geography show “Wicked Tuna” and its spin-off “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks.” The show is about the fisherman based in Glochester, Massachusetts who commercially fishes Bluefin Tuna meanwhile they take on the challenge to catch more fish than others before the end of the season.

Q: Where do you spend most of your time fishing?

A: Key West and Gloucester MA

Q: What type of fishing do you practice?

A: I practice rod and reel fishing.

Q: How long have you been fishing for?

A: As long as I can remember, since I was about 10. I have been fishing professionally for over 20 years.

Q: How did you get started fishing?

A: I grew up on a small island outside of New York City. I fished with my father and grandfathers since I was young and catching a lot of stripers and bluefish. I spent summers in New England fishing with my dad as well. That’s pretty much how I got into fishing. All I wanted to do was become a fisherman. When I was twenty, I got on the television for the first time with my fishing skills. My show, “Wicked Tuna” made its first appearance in April, 2012. I haven’t stopped since. I love it.

Q: Why do you partner with Blackfin?

A: Blackfin is full of great proven product. I prefer to be with a company I believe in and trust; Blackfin is that for me.

Q: How can we reach you?

A: (305)-393-6819 | tjhottuna@gmail.com | Hot Tuna Fisheries

  • I’m a retired firefighter paramedic. I love watching your show. Do you have room on your boat for a guest. I’m a fisherman but not of your caliber, but can follow instructions. Also, if anyone gets hurt I can jump into action. I think it would be a novelty to have a firefighter on board and an experience for me.
